about

Music from the streets of Jerusalem

Ittai Binnun and DjClick confront together the contradictions that shape the city of Jerusalem. As in the streets you can hear a Jewish klezmer clarinet, Arabic Ney, eastern percussions over modern club beats, western synthesizer sounds and field recordings of the bustling market.
The songs are sung by Einav Dahari in some of the languages spoken in Jerusalem Hebrew, Arabic and Ladino.
By showing that apparently contradicting traditions can work together in harmony, the listener might ask himself can this approach not be applied to other areas of tension?
Mercy Gate known as Golden Gate is an east facing gate of the old walls of Jerusalem, quite a symbol for this new album.
